Kim is the founder of Lake Tillery Mahjong Loft, a cozy garage-loft studio in Norwood, North Carolina, where beginners learn American Mahjong in a welcoming, hands-on environment. Her goal is to help students understand more than the rules—she wants them to develop the skills and confidence to comfortably join a game on their own.

A pharmacist by profession, Kim brings a thoughtful, structured approach to teaching while creating an atmosphere that feels relaxed and personal. Alongside fellow instructor Beth Hinson, she offers beginner classes and guided play sessions designed to help students progress from learning the fundamentals to making decisions and playing more independently.

Kim believes Mahjong is best learned through experience: handling the tiles, playing real hands, asking questions, and learning alongside others. That philosophy is at the heart of the Loft, where small groups and guided practice give students the time and support they need to truly understand the game.

For Kim, the experience extends beyond learning Mahjong. It's about creating a place where people can gather, connect, and become part of a community built around the tiles.

Beth Hinson is an instructor at Lake Tillery Mahjong Loft in Norwood, North Carolina, where she shares her love of American Mahjong alongside her friend and Loft founder, Kim Bost. Together, they have created a warm and inviting space where players can learn, play, and build friendships while enjoying the peaceful setting overlooking Lake Tillery.

Beth helps welcome players through beginner instruction, guided play, open play, and themed events designed to make Mahjong approachable and enjoyable. She and Kim also enjoy creating beautiful tablescapes and thoughtful touches that make every gathering at the Loft feel special.

For Beth, Mahjong is about much more than learning the game. It's an opportunity to connect with others, strengthen friendships, and become part of a welcoming community. Tiles, Connection, Community captures the spirit of the Lake Tillery Mahjong Loft and the experience Beth strives to create for every player who joins the table.
